Guido Smit

 

Guido was born in 1945 in Kibbutz Hazorea in the British Mandate of Palestine. His mother was a Holocaust survivor, his father was a member of the Dutch resistance, rescuing Jewish youngsters.

In 1949 the family returned to the Netherlands, and at age 21 Guido emigrated to Canada. Following a career of managing sales organizations internationally in the high tech sector, Guido became a tree farmer and Holocaust Educator. Since 2019 he has been Executive Director of Muslims Facing Tomorrow, providing a link between the Muslim Reform movement and the Jewish community.

He has done volunteer work in Israel following the October 7th tragedy, and has provided commentary on the linkages between that event and the Holocaust.
