BA Princeton 1976, PhD UVA 1992, studies also at Oxford. Twice a Fulbright professor of polisci and international relations, in post-Soviet Russia. I have worked for 40 years for the international integration of the Western democracies, along with their close allies in the “West-adjacent” Asia-Pacific (ANZ, Japan, SK, Taiwan), the better to sustain their global leadership role and the continuity of a Western values orientation for the mainstream of the world order. Chair of the Center for War/Peace Studies; active in the Atlantic Council; in the past, executive director of the Association to Unite the Democracies.
